NOT A NOVAK SERVO, IT’S A PAINTED FUTABA, JUST FOR SHOW Lots of pics below the text… This is a restored vintage Associated RC12L. I had bought 2 different rollers for parts, and made this one to model paint jobs on. The body came with one of the rollers, unpainted with holes made for the mounts and already cut. The rear holes are a mess so I made custom lexan hole covers to hide that. I custom painted and decaled the body myself. I always wanted a Novak servo, but instead for fun I painted a used Futaba servo and printed a Novak decal for the top. I’m not trying to fool anyone, its clearly not a Novak… Maybe a Fauxvak : The chassis plates are like new, never used. I think the tie rods are Technacraft or maybe Lunsford, not sure. The foam tires were actually new Tamiya F1 donuts found at a local shop. I cut them down poorly on my lathe. I can usually do it better, but I was having problems that day. I had to use the lathe to cut off the old foams and glue from the wheels, then sandblast the wheels to paint them. The Nicad Sanyo battery cells are vintage, used and some of the labels are ripped. I used clear vinyl sticker material to tape them into place on the chassis. Again this was all done for show purposes, to display paint jobs, but I recently decided that I’m not going to be doing alot of 1/12 scale paint.
